This InvestiGhost VR review is based on around one hour of my own gameplay on Meta Quest 3.
InvestiGhost feels like Luigi’s Mansion and Ghostbusters had a VR baby. You explore haunted buildings, photograph ghosts, hunt down the dangerous ones and use one ridiculous gadget that seems to do almost everything.
I honestly really enjoyed it. The game has charm, humour and some genuinely creepy moments, and considering it only costs around five dollars, it offers an impressive amount of entertainment for the price.
My Testing Details
Headset tested: Meta Quest 3
Review type: Hands-on gameplay
Development status: Early Access
Time played: Around one hour
I played InvestiGhost for around one hour on Meta Quest 3 while the game was still in Early Access. This review is based on my own experience with its ghost hunting, photography, gadgets, humour and creepy atmosphere.
What Is InvestiGhost?
InvestiGhost is an Early Access VR ghost-hunting game where you explore haunted buildings, photograph paranormal activity and deal with dangerous ghosts. Its playful style mixes spooky moments with humour, giving it a feel somewhere between Luigi’s Mansion and Ghostbusters.
You use a multi-purpose ghost-hunting gadget to investigate each location, capture evidence and defend yourself when the spirits become hostile.
Ghost Hunting With Charm and Humour
What stood out most during my time with InvestiGhost was its personality. The game does not take itself too seriously, but it still manages to create genuinely creepy moments while you explore the haunted locations.
The mix of ghost photography, hunting dangerous spirits and using the multi-purpose gadget makes the gameplay feel varied and entertaining. It has the playful charm of Luigi’s Mansion with the ghost-catching idea of Ghostbusters, but it still has its own identity.
One Gadget That Does Almost Everything
A big part of the fun comes from the multi-purpose ghost-hunting gadget. You use it to investigate paranormal activity, photograph ghosts and deal with dangerous spirits, so it becomes the main tool you rely on throughout the game.
Having so many functions built into one device keeps the controls simple and gives InvestiGhost a playful, slightly ridiculous style that suits the game perfectly.
Excellent Value Even in Early Access
InvestiGhost is still in Early Access, but I was surprised by how much fun I had with it during my first hour. The mix of exploration, ghost photography, humour and creepy moments already gives the game plenty of personality.
At around five dollars, it offers excellent value. Even in its current Early Access state, there is enough here to make it easy to recommend to anyone who enjoys light-hearted ghost hunting in VR.
